Anyway, she told me that she wanted to have him get a head ultrasound just to make sure there wasn't too much fluid in his head. So I scheduled an appointment for the next day over at Banner Desert. The guy on the phone told me to go to the Outpatient area and that's where he would get his ultrasound. So, the next day, left my house at 10:00 am so I could get there in time for his 10:30 appointment. I drove around the hospital once and saw absolutely no signs with outpatient on them. So, I drove around the hospital again, just in case, and still...nothing. So I stopped and asked someone who works there and the guy told me to park in the parking garage and that the outpatient area was on the second floor "You will see a bunch of signs pointing the way" he said. Pshaw, right! I parked in the garage, not knowing what floor I was on because, you know, they don't exactly go by each floor. So, I get all my kids out of the car and see a stair case in the corner of the level just under me. So I walk down there thinking there would be an elevator...Nope. So, I walked back up a level and then some and realized I was already on the second floor. So, I go inside and guess what....there were no signs that said outpatient anywhere. So, I am walking around trying to find someone to ask and finally someone stops to help. He tells me to go back the way I came from and go into suite 219 or something like that. I get there, and the lady tells me I'm in the wrong place. She tells me to back through the hall (where I had just come from) and go to the ultrasound area. So, I finally found it but I was a half hour late to the appointment. Luckily, they still took me in.
So, when I got out, Anthon called and asked if I wanted to go to lunch with him since I was half way to his work place anyway. So, we met at Carl's Jr. and had lunch. Right as we were about to leave, McKay, who running back and forth on the long bench seat after I told him to stop, tripped on his shoes and went face first into the window sill. We thought, at first, that maybe it wasn't that bad but then he started screaming and we saw that he had blood EVERYWHERE! He was bleeding out of both his nostrils and his mouth. Everyone was watching as we tried to get him to calm down and clean things up. It took us a while to get the bleeding to slow down but he kept screaming every time we tried to touch him. He wouldn't let us touch his nose and I was worried that maybe he broke it. After I put him in his car seat, I checked his mouth and saw that he had torn his upper labial frenulum. It's that little piece of skin that connects the upper lip to the gums. He still wasn't letting me touch his nose and he kept saying that it hurt so I called his doctor and scheduled an appointment. I had an hour and a half to kill before the appointment so I went and returned something at a store and then went to the library pick up a movie I had on hold.
While I was in the library, I was trying to get my stroller around a lady that was in the middle of the aisle and the front wheel of the stroller caught on one of the book shelves and Mason went face first into the tray in front of him. So, he starts screaming and crying and everyone is watching, and within 10 seconds I have a security guard there asking me if my son is the one making all that noise. He almost kicked me out of the library but fortunately Mason stopped crying a few seconds later. So, I went to check out my movie and some books and realized I didn't have my library card with me. I had left it in the car. So I had to leave all my stuff with one of the librarians while I took the kids back out to the car to get the card.
By this time I was on the verge of tears. I just wanted to go home and go to sleep and start a new day. Anyway, we took McKay to his appointment and everything was fine. He completely tore through his frenulum and cut part of his gums too but he didn't have a broken nose. It was just really swollen. So, I took the kids to the store to get McKay a treat for being such a good boy at his appointment and then went home.
When I got home I saw a note in my door saying that the bug guy had come but I missed him. He was supposed to spray inside the house :o(. So I called and rescheduled.
Anthon got home and while we were trying to think of what to make for dinner, Makenna and McKay were playing on the couch and McKay fell off and landed on his mouth and it started bleeding again!! It stopped quickly though. We gave the kids a bath and put them to bed. I had never been so glad for the day to be over!
Here are some pictures of my poor little boy. These were taken a day and a half after it happened so the swelling had actually gone down a bit by the time I took these.

He/we have accidentally reopened the wound in his mouth a few times since the accident :o(. I'm sure it kills every time it happens too. He has been so good about it though.
Since I am talking about McKay, I thought I would add that he has finally reached the age where we trust him enough to let him play pbskids.org on the computer. Makenna was a little younger when she started but she has always been a little more careful with certain things than McKay has been.

PS - It took until Friday to get the results, but Mason is fine. Everything came out normal.
